The Board of Directors of Summit Alliance Port Limited (SAPL) has appointed Rear Admiral Riazuddin Ahmed, OSP, BSP, ndu, afwc, psc (retd.) as the company’s Independent Director. In addition he continues to be the Advisor of Summit Oil and Shipping Company Limited (SOSCL).
SAPL is the leading off-dock in the country’s private sector with around 22% shares in handling of containerized exports and 12% of the import volume. Besides, SAPL has also established the first ever river terminal facility in Bangladesh’s private sector providing off-dock services and cheap cargo transportation, easing the pressure on the already overburdened Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
Prior to joining SAPL, he held important positions such as Director Purchase (Navy) in DGDP, Managing Director of Khulna Shipyard Ltd, Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) and Chairman of Mongla Port Authority among others. He spearheaded the first PPP project under the Ministry of Shipping while serving as the Chairman of Mongla Port Authority. He is a graduate of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Department from BUET.
