Transportation-(By-Road)

Container Transportation (Off-Dock): By Road

Summit Alliance Port Limited (SAPL) is involved in transporting containers to/from port on behalf of the major Main Line Operator (MLO). A total of 130 long vehicles are engaged in transporting containers which are registered with the Port Authority. Every vehicle is marked with the BAT (Bandar Authorized Trailer) number. The driver and helper of every prime mover have the Gate Pass issued by the Port Authority. With the prior permission or nomination of MLO we transport the following containers:

  • Import laden container from CPA
  • Empty containers from CPA
  • Export laden units to CPA/Ship as per customer requirement
  • Empty containers to ship as per Main Line requirement

Procedure of Container Transportation

All our long vehicles are equipped with Live Tracking devices transmitting their live position via GPS satellites. While our monitoring team watches the movements of the vehicles round the clock to ensure they stay on the defined track to/from the port, there are built in alarm systems to alert any deviation from the track. This is achieved by an added feature called the “Geo-fencing”. Any vehicle deviating more than 100 feet from the defined route will cause an alarm to be raised.  In case of such an alarm being raised, our team will rush to check on the reason for such deviation. We have employed two vendors to provide tracking devices, but retained the monitoring of the movements by our own dedicated team. We have two separate dedicated teams for live monitoring of the vehicles in SAPL and Ocean Containers Limited (OCL) for all the time. Apart from the monitoring team there is a patrol team who patrol on the road and keep close eye on our vehicles movements at night. In transporting the containers to and from the port we issue and keep following documents for our records:

  • Removing of import laden containers from port to depot - Import EIR and invoice.
  • Empty container removing from port to depot - Empty Container Invoice.
  • Transporting Export Laden containers from Depot to Port - Export EIR, Port Gate Pass, Port CTMS copy, Prottoyon Patra (Attestation Certificate) & Depot Gate-Out Invoice.
  • Transporting empty containers from depot to Port for shipment - Empty Gate-Out Invoice, Port Gate Pass & Port CTMS copy.
